Vitamin C is typically associated with immune modulation, but it does much more than that.* Vitamin C has a positive impact on dozens of systems and pathways in our bodies.*
L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) plays a pivotal role in a broad range of functions within the human body.* It’s a potent antioxidant that helps to scavenge and fight free-radicals; it’s vital for upholding bones, teeth, and cartilage.* It assists in collagen formation and is essential to iron absorption, which is why it’s critical to the complex process of wound healing.* The incredible thing is, these are just a few of the major bodily functions vitamin C impacts.*
It isn’t just humans that require this coenzyme; all animals have a metabolic need for vitamin C. Most mammals can synthesize ascorbic acid endogenously. However, it’s an essential nutrient for us humans, which means we only get our vitamin C through diet.
Because we find sufficient amounts of ascorbic acid in most fruits and vegetables, vitamin C deficiency is not common. After all, we’re not pirates stuck out at sea surviving on salted meat, dried biscuits, and rum.
So, why should we be concerned about how a formulation like Pureway-C™ is clinically proven to outperform regular vitamin C?
Modern western culture isn’t the most conducive to easily living a healthy lifestyle. The prevalence of processed foods leads to many people eating a sub-optimal diet. Nutrient-depleted soil has also made it a bit more challenging for those who eat a healthy diet to get all the nutrients they need.* On top of this, nobody lives in a bubble that protects them from the sun and oxidative stress, while they eat all their veggies.
Ascorbic acid is an electron donor. This is why it’s such a potent antioxidant and the reason for most of its physiological benefits.* When it trades its electrons with reactive oxygen species, it terminates chain radical reactions, hence its free-radical-fighting ability.* Instead of oxidative compounds like hydroxyl radicals, which can cause damage to our cells, vitamin C can initiate a reaction where it sacrifices itself and decomposes instead, thus eliminating the offending oxidant.*
Another vital and oft-overlooked function of ascorbic acid is its impact on cortisol.* Vitamin C is a coenzyme that helps dopamine convert to norepinephrine. Regular vitamin C is needed to ensure adrenal stores of ascorbate stay at optimal levels, especially during high-stress situations.*
However, it’s not just for dopamine and cortisol. Ascorbic acid is a cofactor in at least 15 mammalian enzymes. So, ensuring your body gets the most efficient absorption, and utilization through high-quality vitamin C is paramount to overall health.*
Although Pureway-C™ is water-soluble like regular ascorbic acid, it’s packed with lipid metabolites and citrus bioflavonoids for significantly better bioavailability. The fatty acids help to carry the ascorbic acid for enhanced cellular uptake. The bioflavonoids act as a protective shield that keeps the vitamin C from reacting with oxidizers before it is delivered and fully absorbed. This delivery method is why Pureway-C™ has more potent antioxidant capabilities than non-formulated vitamin C and is significantly more bioavailable.*
Three clinically proven ways that Pureway-C™ outperforms regular vitamin C brands is by showing a significant reduction of C-reactive protein, low-density lipoproteins (LDL) cholesterol levels, and higher serum vitamin C levels in just 24 hours.*
A study showed that Pureway-C™ leads to the highest serum levels of vitamin C compared to ascorbic acid, calcium ascorbate acid, and even high-quality branded products like Ester-C™.* It also led to a more significant reduction of plasma C-reactive protein and oxidized LDLs than the other vitamin formulations.*[1]
“PureWay-C™ is more rapidly absorbed and leads to higher serum vitamin C levels and greater reduction of plasma levels of inflammatory and oxidative stress markers than other forms of vitamin C, including Ester-C™.*” – Vitamin C Study Excerpt
Vitamin C is a cornerstone of everyday health.* It’s so crucial that many manufacturers fortify their foods with it, and it’s added to the formulas of hundreds of nutritional supplements –not just multivitamins. Because it has such a profound impact on so many of our body’s systems and is one of the best free-radical-fighters, it’s important to know that your vitamin C is going to do its job well. So, why not choose the one that outperforms other forms of vitamin C in essential metabolic functions where vitamin C is known to play a role.*
